Assessing the Strengths and Gaps of the Leadership Bench

After determining what roles need to be filled (immediately, in 2 years, in 5 years), the next step in a bench development process is assessment. Who are our internal candidates and what are their strengths and developmental gaps?

The 9 Box

Place the names of internal candidates for future roles in one of the 9 boxes as a first step in identifying team members are currently, and what gap development may be needed.

 

The second tool is a simple template for identifying a role to be filled, evaluating potential candidates,  determining when they might be ready for the new role and what development is needed to prepare them.
